HEFFERNAN FAMILY EMLY TIPPERARY

THOMAS  HEFFERNAN  and his wife   NORA RYAN

lived at EMLY TIPPERARY and had a house there in 1850.    Thomas Heffernan was a teacher.

Two of their daughters,  ELLEN HEFFERNAN,  who married Albeius Oliver Fitzgerald,  at Emly,  31st Jan. 1875, and MARY HEFFERNAN, who married in New Zealand, John Lynch, from Bantry Bay Ireland.    Both Ellen and Mary lived in the Palmerston North area of New Zealand.       One of Mary’s daughters was Julia Lynch, Sister Lawrence the well known artist.

    There was a third Heffernan sister, Bridget, who emigrated to NZ with Mary in 1876. Bridget married my great grandfather Denis Fahey.
