MICHAEL CALLANAN was born in 1871 in Rosstown, South Westland, New Zealand. Michael was baptised on 19-9-1871 and his Sponsors for Baptism were Michael Beakney and Mrs Catherine Ryan.
Michael was the youngest son of Daniel Callanan and his wife Margaret McKeogh Callanan. On his baptismal record Margaret was Mckeogh not the usual Keogh.
About 1880 Michael, his brother Daniel, and two of his sisters, namely, Ellen and Catherine, left with their widowed mother Margaret Callanan for Australia. Ellen (later Mrs William Rogers), was the only one of these children to have been born in Australia, and would have been the eldest one of the group.
They travelled the area of New South Wales, Australia, working here and there.
It is possible that Michael Callanan was at one time in Myrtleville, Goulbourne area, N.S.W, say about 1929. He may have been married. Daniel his brother may also have lived in the area.
I would be pleased to hear from any relatives.
